"Yum Yum", Ragdoll, Creme with grey, San Rafael

Search Details:

Yum Yum is a nine year old, indoor only, 10 pound, spayed creme and grey Ragdoll. She is not wearing a collar and is not microchipped.

Apparently, she slipped out of the back door without her people knowing, but they discovered it within minutes. They immediately started looking for her, but could not find her. They searched for several hours, but could not find her. They stopped and went to bed around 2 AM and started again around 6 AM.

During that time, it appears, that she was picked up and carried away out of the very large mobile home park. The track led immediately out of the park and into a large public park, through a golf course and out into an area with miles and miles of hiking/biking trails that snake throughout a large marsh area.

The track led around and around the area and hills and parking lots without any real purpose. To me, it appeared like the person who had her was trying to kill time until waiting for something to occur or someone to come by.

It appears that somebody from the mobile home park picked her up and carried her away, possibly to sell her. The mobile home park is very large and their home is almost to the back of the complex. There is only one way in and one way out for both vehicles and pedestrians. This was somebody who was already there and not "passing by."

Received phone call from relative that helped on the search:

"I wanted to let you know that we did pick up Jadis today, and it looks like Dino led you right to where she was picked up yesterday afternoon right at the train tracks and took her home. She is home, and thank you for everything you did."

Received phone call from Jadis' person:

"The dog was indeed Jadis, and we are thrilled to have her back! We want to throw out a huge, huge thank you again for the great job you did today. Where we stopped off today was about two blocks from where she was picked up. Kudos to Dino and thank you for all your hard work and diligence, and I will will refer in the future to any of my friends that need your service. Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I appreciate it!"

Our experience was very positive.  I am recommending Jackie to all of my friends and family in the area if they lose a pet.

I've used a pet psychic in the past to locate a missing cat.  She was spot on and helped me find his remains in less than 2 hrs.  This time we lost our dog and when we called her, she came up a little cold on the reading.  So we knew we had to take more action and fast.

We are a single pet household so having scent articles was not a problem.  Dino did an amazing job of memorizing the scent and following it.  Because we had an eye witness to give us a starting location and direction, we were off to a great start.

Dino tracked our dog for 9.5 miles (36 hours after her disappearance).  We know he was 100% accurate because during the search we got a call from a woman who picked up our dog within 1/4 mile of where the search was at that moment.

Although it was Craigslist that ultimately brought our dog back to us, having Jackie's services gave our search team hope and a sense of purpose at a time when we would have otherwise felt powerless.  It was clear that she knew what she was doing and Dino is a rockstar.

Before having Jackie, we were focusing our efforts in our immediate area... now we know this was a complete waste of time because our little one traveled miles and miles away.

Jadis is an all white, 10 pound, 10 month old Miniature Schnauzer. She has natural ears and a docked tail. She is microchipped, but not wearing her collar.

Her people were out of town for a few days, so she was staying with a relative. A person from the house accidentally opened the garage door, allowing Jadis to run out.

There were several sightings of her in the area. We started at the most recent.

On the day of the search, there was another possible sighting of Jadis. We went to that area, but it was a dog that looked similar to Jadis. We restarted at the most recent sighting.

We followed the track for several hours and over nine miles all around San Jose through some very difficult and dirty terrain. At that point, they received a phone call that somebody had Jadis. This person emailed a photo to them and it was indeed Jadis. However, she did look different. Apparently, the finder had to shave and bath Jadis because she was so dirty and covered a lot of burrs and sticks. This makes sense based on the terrain we tracked her to.

They were able to pick her about about two hours later when the finder got home from work.

The story was that the finder was not intending to return Jadis, but this person bragged to a co-worker about finding Jadis, and this co-worker had enough sense to check Craigslist and found the Lost Dog ad. She convinced the finder to call them and return Jadis.

"Buddha", DSH/Burmese mix, Black, San Rafael

Search Details:

Buddha is a petite, one year old, black indoor/outdoor DSH. He is micochipped, but he is not wearing a collar. He is very friendly towards strangers. 

He was last seen inside his large fenced yard, and is usually kept in at night. However, on the day he went missing, they were out late that night, and Buddha was not at home when they came back.

We followed a track for several miles that was obvious that he had been picked up and carried away. Then, the track led back almost to the area near to his house.

We followed the track to a remote hillside behind a large community center that was having an event the night Buddha disappeared. The person who picked up Buddha could have also come from the local high school, which was two blocks from Buddha home. 

Buddha's person has difficulty walking due to injured knees, so her daughter was walking with me, while she drove the car. 

I followed the track to a remote hillside and up a steep trail. I stopped to look far up the trail and I saw, what appeared to be at first a small black squirrel sitting in the trail and then running away. Then, I realized that I had just seen Buddha. He is petite, has short legs and a fluffy tail. I called down to the parking lot where Buddha's people were sitting waiting to hear from me. The daughter walked the mother slowly up the trail, and I explained what I had just seen. We walked further up the trail, calling Buddha's name. Dino indicated that Buddha had run into a thicket of brush and bushes and under a hole in the fence. 

We continued walking around the hillside and bushes for a half hour, but could not find Buddha. I suggested setting traps with permission of the property owner.

They said they would continue to look for him.

"Copper", Chihuahua/Terrier mix, Reddish/Brown, Santa Clara

Still missing as of February 19, 2012.

Copper is a two to five year old reddish brown Chihuahua/Terrier mix. He recently had been pulled from an animal shelter and was at a foster home with The Perfect Dog Rescue. He is microchipped, but was not wearing his collar at the time he got scared by something in the front yard.

There were several sightings of Copper within several blocks of his foster home.

We followed the track for several miles around the area, and the search was called off at the four hour minimum. They said they would continue to look for Copper.

"Bacio", "Nika", Akitas, San Juan Bautista - Found!

Bacio and Nika are two two-year old Akitas who took off from the their multiple acre property. It is unknown what scared them to leave. Neither dog is wear a collar, but both are microchipped.

We had a search scheduled for first thing the next morning.

I received a call later that evening that both dogs had been found several miles from their home. Somebody saw one of the flyers and called.

They were missing for over 48 hours.

"Scooby", DLH, Buff/Orange, Fremont - Found!

Scooby is an indoor only, two year old, buff and orange DLH. He is microchipped, but he is not wearing a collar.

The same day that Scooby went missing, there was a plumber at the home who accessed the pipes from a trap door in a closet.

Scooby's person said she was positive she saw Scooby after the plumber left, so she did not think he was trapped under the house, as I thought. There was no way he could have left the house. He was not seen leaving the house, and there were no sightings of him outside the house.

Upon arriving to the house for the search, Scooby's person ran out to my car and said that Scooby was found under the house. She said she started to hear him meow as she was in that part of the house. Her husband went under the house and did see Scooby at the far corner of the house.

I suggested moving one of the traps from outside to under the house to see if he would go inside it.

I got a call later that night that Scooby finally came to where the trap door was, which was where Scooby's person was sitting all day.

Hi Jackie,

Thanks again so much for helping us last Friday, especially on such short notice. I cannot tell you how much I appreciated your and Dino's help!

As we called it a night and I was driving home (back to Berkeley!), the San Jose shelter called me saying they had picked up a dog with my rescue tag with the name "Ginger". I have to tell you that was the best call of my life!!!! So relieved they got her. They even took her straight from the location where they found her (somewhere on 16th St, they didn't remember the cross street) to her foster home. So she is safe and sound once again!

Search Details:

Ginger is a one year old, red female pit bull who was recently rescued from a shelter and is a foster dog with The Perfect Dog rescue. She was temporary at a new foster home, but she jumped the fence immediately upon arriving. She is wearing an ID tag with collar and she is microchipped. 

She was spotted a couple of times in a large public park near to the foster home. We followed the track for several miles.

I got a call a couple of hours after the search that night that Ginger had been picked up by Animal Services within the City of San Jose.
