"Jack," DSH, Orange Tabby, Oakland

Still missing as of November 10, 2012

Jack is a ten year old, indoor only, orange and white DSH. He is microchipped, but he is not wearing a collar.

Jack was let out by mistake by a housesitter who left a window open by accident, and both indoor cats jumped out. One of the cats was found within 24 hours, but Jack was not found.

There was a sighting of Jack several blocks away, but his people dismissed it due to it's location away from the house. They did not even tell me about the phone call the night before until we started to approach the area on our search following Jack's track. We started to follow the track from the home, and the track led us directly to the sighting. When we got to the location, and started to talk to people, another man said he had seen a cat that looked like Jack the same day, but earlier. He thought the cat was from the neighborhood.

As we were following the track, they also told me about another sighting of a cat matching Jack's description in the area where we were tracking, which was a couple of miles from their home. They had also dismissed the sighting due to the distance away from the house, but the track we were following led directly past that location.

We continued the search for several hours, and then they stopped the search, saying they would continue to look for Jack.
