Goldie is a 27 pound, reddish gold and white, medium size mixed breed. She is wearing her collar with ID tags and she is microchipped. She is very shy and nervous around strangers.
She disappeared on Tuesday when a contractor came to the house to do some work, and Goldie got scared and ran out the side door and out the side gate, both which were left open by the contractor. At the time we originally talked on the phone, there were no sightings of Goldie after she went missing.
When I arrived at the house to do the search, they had received two new sightings, both within a half hour of Goldie leaving the house. We went to that location, which was just a few blocks from her home, and we found the track leading away in a different direction. Also, in that intersection was a work crew that had the street torn up and they were one of the people who saw Goldie running away. What the track told us just at this point was that Goldie did attempt to make her way back home after the road crew had already gone, but something got in her way (maybe somebody trying to help her) and she deviated away in a different direction.
From here the track went in a direction that led her miles away, but still within the city limits of San Rafael. Her people stopped the search at the three hour mark because he said he had some place to be, and his wife was not available to meet me on the search. He said he wanted to continue the search the next morning when they had more time to work with.
We had a time set for 10 AM the next morning. I received a text at 5 AM that morning that said, "Goldie just came home!!!!"
I got this voicemail at 8:14 AM:
"Goldie managed to come last night. We are so happy! She showed up on the deck at five in the morning. Thank you so much for all your help, and we think it was really because of your work yesterday that we established a scent path for her to come home. Thank you so much again for coming out so quickly yesterday. We are glad to have Goldie home again!"

There was a little issue with the GPS mapping. I finally got it to start at the third attempt, and we were already about a mile into the search, but then it worked perfectly!View Goldie San Rafael in a larger map
