"Lucy," Black DSH, Pleasant Hill

Lucy is a 7 pound all black, spayed DSH who has been missing since February 10 from her home. She recently moved to the new home and was getting adjusted to the new location when she left by a window in the middle of the night that got left open by accident.

Lucy is not wearing a collar. She is microchipped and the contact information is updated.

Lucy was seen on a neighbor's yard camera at 1 AM the night she went missing. We picked up the search from there and followed it all the way to up a busy road that led directly to the freeway. We were unable to safely walk on that road.

It appears that Lucy was transported inside a car out of the area. Lucy's person did confirm there was a person visiting the house later in the day after she went missing. She said she would also search in the area of where that car would be going and continue to search for Lucy in the immediate area in case she comes back.

We walked back to the area of the house and continued to check various locations.

Lucy's person said she would continue to search for Lucy.

"Bobo," Toy Poodle, 14 years, Orinda

Bobo is a 14 year old white toy poodle mix. He was let out into the back yard to use the restroom at 9 PM and unfortunately, his person fell asleep. When he woke up a couple of hours later, Bobo was no where to be found in the yard. The existing security cameras did not show him leaving the yard.

In my search of the very large yard on a hillside, I did find an opening under the deck where he could fit through and get out into the hillside behind the house. We started our search from that location.

I took Asia out to this area and off leash, I took her to this steep location and started the search. She immediately picked up a scent out of that location, up the steep hill that is open to the public, per Bobo's person. The track was up the hillside, around some trees and eventually back down and out to the main road leading past their house.

The track continued for several miles all around Orinda and Morgan Hill and to Rheem Shopping Center, where the search was stopped by Bobo's person.

The Strava map does show the track leading out to the shopping center, and unfortunately, I forgot to turn off the map when we drove back to their home. That is why the distance is so long, but it should be just out to the Rheem Shopping Center, where we stopped.

"Seamus," White with Orange DSH, San Francisco - FOUND!!!!

Seamus is a two and a half year old, indoor and outdoor, neutered, white with orange DSH cat who suddenly did not come home one evening from his regular time out in the local neighborhood, despite a regular schedule.

After an extensive search by Seamus' person, a sighting was discovered several days later at a nearby multi-family residence where Seamus had been seen hanging out at the front door in their courtyard for a couple of days after being missing. We started the search there.

The track Asia found led away from the building and down to Mission Street, and then all the way on Mission Street through Colma and into South San Francisco, changing into El Camino. Once we were in South San Francisco, the track led around several buildings and then around the Kaiser Permanente building on El Camino Real.

The search was stopped at this location at the four hour mark.

We did our search on a Sunday afternoon. On that following Tuesday, I received an email that Seamus suddenly walked into his cat door, very hungry and tired and disoriented!!!!

"Miso," Chihuahua, Brown, Oakland - Found!!!!!

I received a phone call a week ago that Miso had been found safe and well in Oakland. Her person received a phone call that Miso was seen by a person with another person, and that person saw a flyer on a post and called Miso's person!!

Miso is a 13 year old, 4 pound brown Chihuahua who is microchipped and wearing a collar with ID tags.

She went missing by accident while staying at a dogsitter. There were several possible sightings with other people but no one was able to pinpoint or find these people.

Day #1:

The track we found led away from the house and around Emeryville and Oakland and Berkeley. It did appear based on the track that Miso was being carried by a person around the area where the sightings had been.

https://strava.app.link/qD32ozEz7Nb

Day #2

https://strava.app.link/S56MTxPz7Nb

Day two started at an apartment building where someone saw a person carrying Miso into the building. After getting permission to bring Asia into the building, which was pet friendly, I showed all the floors and entrances and exits to Asia on a "Check" mode. After several minutes, I took Asia back to a middle point and told her "Search." She walked back to a couple of walkways and then out to a courtyard on the ground floor with a playground. She went directly to a back gate that leads out to the street. I had her check a couple more times and each time she went to this same gate. There were cameras there, and Miso's person said she would talk to the apartment management about seeing the camera footage.

Day #3

We started day three where we left on Day #2. We continued to follow the track all the way up Fruitvale and then around Dimond Park and then back down on Lincoln. Search was stopped at 4 hours at Lincoln and Montana. Miso's person said she would continue to search for Miso. It appears that Miso is still being carried by another person.

"Sally," DSH, Black, San Francisco

Sally is an indoor only 12 year old, 9 pound, all black, DSH with a single white spot on her chest. She was not wearing a collar, but she is microchipped and the microchip company has been contacted and updated.

She was let out by accident through a window by a visitor to the home. Sally was seen on a neighbor's camera within the next 30 minutes after getting out. After that, there were no sightings of Sally.

I was able to arrive a week after she went missing, and we found the track that led around the neighborhood and eventually out of the area, crossing Monterey Blvd and then continued straight. The track continued around the area, and headed straight to Alemany, which turns into Mission. The search continued into Daly City, across the county line of San Mateo County.

The search was stopped after four hours by Sally's people. They said they would contact Peninsula Humane Society, who covers all of San Mateo County.

It appears that Sally had been picked up and carried out of the area. The track was very deliberate and continued straight and purposeful out of the area, unlike the track of a lost cat who is wandering around.

"Cartier," American Bulldog, Brown and White, Oakland

Cartier is a 2 year old, tan and white American Bully. He is microchipped, but not wearing a collar or tags. He and another dog accidently got out of their yard on a Sunday afternoon. The other dog was eventually found back in the yard, but Cartier was not found. Despite a search of the neighborhood, Cartier was not found that night. The microchip company has been contacted and they distributed their own flyers.

I was able to come out the next morning and after looking at the yard and how Cartier got out of the yard, we took Asia around the block to find the way that Cartier got out of the common area behind the houses on the block. Asia found the track leading away from the neighborhood, through a park and then onto another street that led directly to International Blvd. From there the track went right and continued for several miles all the way to Lake Merritt. From there the track went all the way around the lake, which is over 3 miles all the way around.

The search was stopped at the four hour mark and Cartier's people said they would continue to look for him.

It appears that Cartier was intentionally removed from the area and taken a distance from his neighborhood. Oakland has a strong policy of no flyers on poles or posts, so I recommended that Cartier's people walk around and pass out flyers to people to see if they recognize him being walked by another person. I also recommended showing the flyer to the Police and Animal Control in case he shows up in another case in the city.

"Michael", DSH, Grey Tabby with White, Orinda

We came out to do the search on Saturday, July 13.

Michael was last seen July 3 as his people went out of town for a few days. There were other people still at the house caring for Michael.

The track we found led out of the area of the house and down the main road. The track crossed a major street and then continued up another road and into winding hills. The road dead ended and then the track led back up the road.

From there the track went back down the road and into a parking lot of an elementary school. Then the track went out of the parking lot and turned right onto another main road.

The track went down that main road all the way to a large shopping center. From there the track went all around the shopping center. The search was stopped at 4 hours by Michael's people.

It appears that Michael jumped into a type of delivery track on the day of July 5 and then remained in the truck all the way to the shopping center where he jumped out, probably when the driver was taking a break and stopped for a time.

Michael's people said they would post flyers up all around the shopping center and continue to look for him. All shelters have been checked and the microchip company has been informed.

"Peach," DMH, Orange with White, San Francisco

Peach is indoor only, 7 years old and a petite size at 8 pounds. She was not wearing a collar and it is unknown if she is microchipped. Her people said they would call the vet where they got Peach to confirm if she is microchipped.

Peach got out of the house by accident four days ago when the back door leading to the backyard was left open by a roommate. It was not known that Peach was outside until the morning when her people looked for her in the large house and could not find her. It was not unusual for her to hide during the night, so they didn't assume something was wrong until the morning.

Once it was known she was not in the house, an extensive search of the yard and surrounding neighborhood and other houses was performed. However, no sightings were found during the search or the following days.

The search we found led away from the house from a neighbor's yard where there was a hole from Peach's yard. The scent went down the driveway and then turned right and down the street. The track then went throughout San Francisco and eventually into Nob Hill, where the search was stopped by Peach's people at four hours. It appears by the track that Peach was picked up and carried away. The track was predominately a human walking away from the area. Many times when transient or homeless people visit a neighborhood to look for recycling in trash cans, cats get picked up and carried away for companionship.

They said they would continue to search for her and make a visit to Animal Control to update the flyer and check their found cat rooms

"Belka," DMH, Tabby with White, Foster City

Belka is 12 years old and went missing on January 5 when she was let out at night and didn't come back. Her collar with her ID tag was found a short distance away the next day. No sightings of Belka were noticed despite an extensive search by her people all over the area. She is microchipped and the company was notified she was missing.

We started the search at the location where the collar was found. Asia picked up the track leading out of the neighborhood and we circled around and around the area, coming back to her own neighborhood a few times.

The search was stopped at 4 hours and we had crossed into San Mateo near Hillsdale. Her people said they would continue to look for her and also work with an intuitive communicator to help locate Belka.

"Tesla," Creme DMH, 12 Years, Fremont

Day One:

Tesla is an indoor neutered 12 years old creme colored DMH. He was last seen inside the home along with another cat who also lives in the house. Somehow the front screen door got open and both cats got out of the house. The other cat was found under the house, but Tesla was not found, despite an immediate search of the area and surrounding neighborhood and postering of flyers. He is not wearing a collar, and he is microchipped.

The track we found was around the neighborhood and then out towards the Alameda Creek, It went through Coyote Regional Park and then came back out onto Paseo Padre. It then went into Fremont and over 880. The search was stopped at four hours and we are scheduled to go back again tomorrow.

Day Two:

https://strava.app.link/4KQKV3Wq7Ab

We started where we left off on Friday and continued around some parks in Newark. While we were tracking, Tesla's person found a deceased cat in a road from being hit by a car. I went there and saw the cat and it definitely wasn't Tesla. The colors were different. There was another cat nearby that was also hit by car. Tesla's person called Animal Control and reported both to be picked up. The search was stopped at 4 hours. We have plans to start again on  Tuesday.

"Oakley," Australian Shepard mix, Red and White, Richmond

This isn't a photo of Oakley. I never received a photo from his people, so I pulled this from my own collection. It means "I love you" in sign language and is on the Embarcadero in San Francisco.

Oakley is a one year old red and white Australian Shepherd mix. While staying at the Milo Foundation and being walked by a volunteer, he got out of his collar and took off. His previous person found out about the escape and immediately started looking for him. He is not wearing any ID and is not microchipped.

https://strava.app.link/zuIkaJqvTxb

There was only one sighting within the week that he was missing and we came out for the search. The track we found led completely away from the location where he went missing. We went all the way to the far distant locations of the Port of Richmond and then all the way back, but on the opposite side of the street from the way he walked in.

Oakley's people did confirm that Oakley is very skittish around strangers and people of all types, so it would be difficult to catch him. The chance of him approaching a stranger for help or food would not exist.

They said they would continue to look for him.

"Kofi" Chihuahua, Blonde. San Carlos - Found

GPS Map of search

https://strava.app.link/U4tGCtURowb

Kofi is a 14 year old Chihuahua mix. When he went missing on New Years Eve around 7 PM he was wearing his collar and ID tags and an AirTag GPS indicator. His person told me his eyesight and hearing were becoming diminished.

He got out of the yard by accident when his person came home and drove the car into the fenced yard where the driveway is and Kofi took off without her knowing he was out. An hour later they noticed he wasn't in the house and went out looking for him.

Later that night around 9 PM they received two pings from his collar and went to that area about 45 minutes from the house. A person also told them they had seen Kofi that night. No other sightings or calls were received.

I came out to do the search on that following Friday. I arrived at noon and Asia immediately picked up the scent leading out of the yard and eventually to the area of the two pings and sighting in a neighborhood park. The search continued for another three hours around San Carlos, and it was stopped at the four hour mark. We scheduled another time to come back that Sunday morning.

The next morning early I received a text that Kofi had been found later Friday night after a ping was received by his collar. They went to the location and made contact with the person at home.  Kofi was found deceased inside their pool inside their yard. Somehow Kofi made it into the open yard and unfenced pool and fell into the pool.

"Cosmo" DSH Grey San Francisco

 https://strava.app.link/hWu4QbVxUtb

Cosmo is a 10 year old, indoor only, grey DSH with green eyes. He was not wearing a collar but he was microchipped.

There were no sightings of him after he went missing from his home around 8 pm when it appears he slipped out of the garage as his person was taking out the trash cans. It was not noticed he was missing until 5 AM the next morning when his person noticed he wasn't in bed with her. Despite an extensive search of the house and surrounding neighborhoods, no sightings or clues were found.

The track we found led away from the house pretty quickly. There wasn't any going around and around like a normal lost cat. The track led down to Ocean Avenue and then made a right and went all the way down and through Lakeshore Plaza, down Sloat, through the Zoo parking lot and how to the Great Highway. The search was stopped at 4 hours and we got a ride back.

It appears he was picked up during the night probably by people who regularly search recycling cans. It is common for them to pick up cats since cats are small and easy to carry, making them nice companions for transient people.

Animal was contacted and she said they would regularly contact them and check the shelter.

His people said they would continue to look for him.

"Diplo" Grey DSH, San Francisco - Update! Diplo has been found!

 https://strava.app.link/vMGPh2Mtvtb

Diplo has been found and is safe at home!!

Diplo is an indoor/outdoor two year old grey DSH who is microchipped but not wearing a collar. It is unknown why she didn't come home one night, despite a regular schedule of always being home at night.

The track we found led away from the street and around and around the neighborhood and led out of the area and all the way to Lake Merced after six miles. There is a possibility that she was picked up by a person and carried out. The two tracks are similar of a cat walking and a human walking out of the area.

Her person said she would continue to look for Diplo.

"Banchee," Catahoula Mix, Grey and White, Oakland

Banchee is an eight year old Catahoula mix who is microchipped but not wearing a collar. She got frightened of fireworks going off in the neighborhood from a house she was visiting.

There were no sightings of Banchee after she went missing despite an extensive search. She is afraid of other dogs and people also, which could make it difficult to physically catch her.

The track we found led all around Oakland and eventually onto International Blvd, heading south towards San Leandro.

Banchee"s person said she would continue to look for her and stay in the area until she was found.

"Leo" DSH Grey Tabby with White, Oakland

Leo is an indoor/outdoor, microchipped 11 month old DSH. He was not wearing a collar. It had come off a week before with his GPS tag.

He was last seen by his person at 5 AM on a Monday when she was inside the house.  There were no sightings of Leo prior to our search. There are several homeless camps nearby under freeways.

The track we followed around Oakland and Berkeley appeared to be that Leo had been picked up and carried away. Since the trash was picked up the same morning that he went missing, it appears that a transient/homeless person picked up Leo on his rounds of picking through the recycle bins that were put out on the curb. Leo's person confirmed that he is friendly with strangers and will approach them.

Leo can get away from that person at any time and make his way back home, but he will face along the way other territorial animals. His person did put up flyers along the way of the search to alert people. Also, since the search crossed the borders of both Oakland and Berkeley and both have government and private shelters, I recommended that she contact all four shelters to alert Leo of being missing in case he shows up at any of those shelters, in addition to the county shelter in Dublin.

"Morty" Chihuahua, Dark Brindle, San Francisco

Morty is a four year old dark brindle Chihuahua mix. When he was being walked by his person at 1:30 AM he was wearing a harness attached to a leash. Somewhere along the line after becoming lost, the harness and leash came off and was later found.

There were numerous possible sightings but none could be confirmed, so we started back at the last place his person was known to be holding the leash and walking him. Asia did pick up on a track that led all around the area and eventually went into Golden Gate Park.

The search was stopped at 4 hours and Morty's person said he would continue to look for him.

"Nadja" Siberian, Grey with white, Oakland Found!!!

Found!!!!!
I received an email that Nadja returned home after being missing for a week. The construction crew noted her sitting on the back fence and informed her people!! I was told she was very hungry, thirty and disoriented, but was resting at home.

Nadja is an indoor/outdoor, white with grey year old Siberian. She went missing from her home one evening when she didn't come home from dinner. She is wearing a collar and she is microchipped. There has been no sightings of Nadja since she went missing. She was seen by construction crews at the house around 4 PM when they left.

The track we found led around the neighborhood and then straight north for over a mile, all the way into Berkeley, and then it went around and around all over the streets and neighborhoods. The search was stopped at 4 hours and they said they would continue to look for Nadja.

Based on the track we found and the lack of sightings, it does appear that Nadja was picked up near her house by someone, probably a transient looking for recycling from cans since the trash was picked up early the next morning. Once we got to Berkeley, it did appear that somewhere she got loose because the track was a lot more random and chaotic, more like a loose cat, than a human being walking.

Unfortunately, this is common with cats since they are easy to carry and don't require to be walked like dogs.

"Sunshine/Fatty" DSH, Orange Tabby, Pleasant Hill

Sunshine is a microchipped three year old DSH, orange tabby who had recently moved into the new location with his person and another cat. He was previously a feral cat before this person, but had been strictly an indoor only cat with this person for the last couple of years

He broke through a screen window on the second night of this new location and was spotted in the area after a few days. We went to the sighting and followed the track for several miles. His person was great and talked to every single person we saw along the way, which is the best way to tell people about missing cats since people tend to ignore cats that they see. If flyers can be matched with an animal they see, they can easily call that person to tell them what they recently saw.

"Sarah," DMH, Black, San Francisco

https://strava.app.link/kDZXhDET6pb

Sarah is a three year old DMH who was recently brought over from Russia. She is microchipped with a chip from Europe and her people were working on getting it registered here in the US.

Her people were visiting some friends in San Francisco and was being walked around on a leash in the neighborhood. On the way back to the apartment, Sarah got spooked by a loud car driving by. She pulled from her person's arms and out of the collar and leash. They searched the area for hours but never found her.

Eight days later they received a note about a cat that fit Sarah's description on a camera in a yard in another part of San Francisco. They were sent the photos and it did appear to be Sarah. We started the search there from the street, at the only entrance to the fenced and locked yard.

Asia picked up the track leading out from the yard and down the streets. We continued the search for five hours and 10 miles around San Francisco, including the Presidio and Geary street. They are continuing to look for Sarah.
