Seamus is a 14 year old black and white Border Collie. He does not have a collar, but he is microchipped. He was missing for a couple of days before I was called. It was unclear how he left the unfenced property, and there had been no sightings.
We found the track leading away from the driveway where he was last seen, down the side of the property, back to the driveway and down the street. While we were on the search, one of the people thought they saw a black and white animal running up on one of the cliff we were near. Several people, including myself with Dot, went up the cliff to look. Dot did indicate that Seamus' scent was there, however, we never found him. We followed the track back up the road and then to Skyline again. Here is crossed over to Kings Mountain Road.
We had to call off the search at Huddart Park once we ran out of daylight and it was not safe to continue on Kings Mountain Road. We planned to regroup the next day back at this spot.

Day Two continued throughout Huddart Park, even though we had to have special permission to bring the dogs since dogs are not allowed at the park.
The search suddenly ended down in Woodside when Seamus' people received a phone call that somebody was hearing a barking dog back in the canyon near Tunitas Creek, which was back near their home. I said that I was 100% confident that Seamus' track was ahead of us and that that dog was another dog. However, they decided to stop the search and go look for that barking dog.

"Ruby", Small Mixed Breed, Campbell
11/15/10 - Ruby is still missing.
I received this email this morning, 10/23/10, one week after my search with Ruby:
"We got a call last night that a dog similar to Ruby was seen in the Blackford/Boynton neighborhood. The man who called said she has been in that area for a few days. Still has collar on. Drove/walked/talked around there last night and this morning, saw a lost chihuahua & small shep. but not Ruby. Posted signs on Blackford to Saratoga Ave. and at Harker Middle."
Ruby is a 20 pound female tan mixed breed. She is wearing a collar with her ID tags and is microchipped. She ran out of the front door when a friend came by to visit.
I was called about three days after she went missing. We found her track quickly leading away from the home, meaning that she was probably several miles away within a couple of hours. She is very shy and would not respond to somebody calling her. We worked late, even into the dark, when we were forced to end the search due to lack of street lights.

Day Two centered around the San Jose Airport, yet there still were no confirmed sightings. We followed her for several more hours, even into the dark, when we were forced to end the search with lack of street lights.

"Raider", Maltese, Concord
Raider is a 2 year old Maltese. He is not wearing a collar, but he does have a microchip. He left the back yard from a hole under the fence. He was sighted for a couple of days in his and a surrounding neighborhood, but nobody could catch him. After the first two days, the sightings stopped. I was called at about the third day that Raider was missing.
We went to the last sighting, and followed his track from there. Below is the first track of the first day. The day ended near a sighting on the Saturday following his disappearance. However, his people did not think it was a viable sighting since it was so far from his home, but our search went right past that spot. The search for the second day was called to an end after several hours by his person accompanying me.

The second day started where the first day ended. This track continued for another several miles, including going through the former Concord Naval Weapons Station. The search was called off by his person after several hours. We tracked Raider to and through to the end of a shooting range. We figured he went under a fencing at the end and onto a road where some ranches are. He said he would keep looking for Raider.
