"Niki," Mini Dachshund, Red with Wire Coat, Santa Rosa

Still Missing as of January 24, 2014

______________________________________________________________________

Niki is an eight pound red, year old, wirehaired Miniature Dachshund. When she went missing on a Friday morning, she was not wearing a collar, but she was microchipped.

The family only had Niki for less than 24 hours when she escaped through a tiny unknown hole under the backyard fence. Prior to my arrival there were no sightings of Niki after she took off, but, while we were initially checking the area, we did find a person who said her daughter saw Niki within an hour after she went under the fence.

During the first day it was obvious that Niki was running loose by herself. It was clearly a pattern of a scared dog running every which way possible. By the second day, there was a strong indication that Niki had been picked up by a homeless/transient person. The initial pick up area was an area off the main trail where Niki went into an area that was a homeless camp, and from there the track was going in and out of various homeless camps and hangouts all around Santa Rosa.

We continued for a third day, and the track continued all the way down Santa Rosa Avenue and into a very rural area full of large farms and open spaces. We found several homeless camps all along.

The search was stopped at the end of the third day by Niki's people. They said they would continue to look for her.

"Apollo," DSH, White with Black Spots, Lafayette - Found!

____________________________________________________________________

Apollo is an eleven year old, twelve pound, predominately indoor only, white with black DSH.

When he went missing he was not wearing a collar but he is microchipped.

He was last seen Friday morning at 9:30 AM when the husband let him out the front door into the very large private lot. There had been construction on the home for several weeks, but, so far, Apollo had learned to stay clear of the men and equipment. There were no sightings of Apollo after he went missing.

I came out the next day on Saturday. Just as I was a couple of blocks from their home, I received a call that Apollo had been found! The husband was checking all closets in the house, and as he went into one on the ground floor, he heard some "meowing." In that closet there was a door to the crawl space under the house. He lifted up the door and found Apollo looking up at him!

After I arrived, we looked around the entire house to see how Apollo could have entered the crawl space, and we did find one place in the garage that was open at the time he disappeared, and the workers were also using the place to keep some of their equipment. They said they would be keeping the garage door closed for now.

"Muffin," Orange Tabby, DSH, Hercules

Still Missing as of December 27, 2013

_____________________________________________________________________

Search details:
Muffin is an indoor/outdoor, 15 pound, DSH, male, six year old, orange tabby with what tail and white feet.

When he went missing he was not wearing a collar and he was not microchipped. He was last seen on a Sunday afternoon inside the house. His person opened up the front door and let him out.

There was a couple of sightings of Muffin in the area after he was last seen by his person. He was missing for over three weeks when we came out to do the search.

After checking the area for a current track leading out, Dino found the track leading away from the neighborhood, down the main street and left and up into another neighborhood.

The search was stopped by Muffin's person at the four hour mark. She said she would continue to search for him.

It appears that Muffin was chased out of the area by another animal. Since he is a pretty good size cat, it may have been a loose dog or wildlife or a new larger cat in the area.

____________________________________________________________________

Stuey is a one year old, tan, 16 pound, neutered, Shiz Tzu/ Maltese mix. When he went missing he was wearing a collar with ID tags and is it unknown if he is micochipped.

Stuey became lost at 10 AM on a Thursday when the car he was riding in was in an accident, and Stuey jumped out of the back of the truck covered by a camper shell. There were a couple of sightings of Stuey within a couple of blocks of the accident.
