Batman is an indoor only, black neutered DSH. He opened the sliding door that led out to the deck. There were no sightings of Batman after he escaped.

He is microchipped and wearing a collar with ID tag.

We found his track leading away from the house in various directions.

I received a text message a couple of days after the search that Batman returned to his home on his own.

"Monkey," DSH, Grey Tabby, Oakland

_____________________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Monkey is a nine year old, DSH grey tabby. He is not wearing a collar and he is not microchipped.

He was on his way to visit the vet for a recent injury. His person did not have a carrier and borrowed a cardboard carrier from the vet, and Monkey escaped from the car as his person was transferring him from the car into the cardboard carrier.

There were a couple of sightings of Monkey in the immediate area, so we started from there. We found a track leading around the area for a short time and then led away. The track went back to the lost area a couple of times.

The search was stopped at the four hour minimum.

"Kimchi," DSH, Grey Tabby, Foster City

___________________________________________________________________

I received this email a few days after the search:

"Thanks Jackie.  We're hoping that she is trying to get back to where she got lost and retracing her path from there.  At the end of the parking lot where we stopped is the bridge where Kimchi crossed into San Mateo.  The Bay Cat Project is a fairly well organized, they sent out an SOS email to their 40 volunteers to be on the lookout along the levee for a new cat showing up.  Hopefully we'll get some hits there.  Thanks again for your and Dino's efforts yesterday.  As I told the family last night, their are a number of positives we can take from this: she's alive as of yesterday, we know a general direction, he can get food at the levee, and she is continually on the move, hopefully back into foster city.  It's given us so hope and an area to focus on passing out flyers. It's more than we knew a day ago.

Thanks again,
Michael"

"Optimus," Siamese, Lilac Point, Menlo Park - Found!

_________________________________________________________________

Three days after the search, on Monday morning, I received the following email:

"Jackie,

I wanted to let you know that Optimus made it home last night at around 11 pm. His feet are bloody, and he's dirty as heck, but he's happy to be home and the vet said he's hurt, but will make a full recovery.

I want to thank you so much for doing what you do, and helping to reunite families. I truly believe it was because we tracked his scent and gave him a path to follow that he made it back home. I can't thank you enough.

Thanks. A LOT."

Search Details:

Optimus is a neutered, indoor/outdoor, six month old Lilac point Siamese. He is wearing a collar with an ID tag, but he is not microchipped. He was last seen on a Saturday. We did our search on the following Friday. There were no sightings of Optimus after he went missing.

We followed a track that ran for over seven miles. Initially, it looked like Optimus may have been chased away. There is a large and expensive creek a half a block away from his home where nocturnal critters hide. There were also indications that he may have been picked up, but at the end of the search, my guess is that he actually was alone and had traveled that distance away and eventually made his way back. He was missing for seven days when he came home on his own.

"Buddy," Yorkshire Terrier, Vallejo

Still missing as of April 15, 2012.

___________________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Buddy is a two year old un-neutered Yorkshire Terrier. He is not wearing a collar and he is not microchipped.

He and his person were out on a walk in an open space near their home. Buddy wandered out of the sight of his person. When she went to look for him, he was not around.

We found the track leading away from that spot and through some open space and through several acres of cattle land. The track came out onto a busy road, through a large property and through a large high school. The search was stopped by his people at the four hour minimum.

"Piper," Vizsla, Red, Sebastopol -Found!

_____________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Piper is a four year old Vizsla. She was visiting a relative's home when she got loose from the unfenced yard. She is wearing a collar with ID tags and is microchipped.

There was a sighting of Piper two days after she went missing. We went to that location and started the search there. From there the search went for over 10 miles.

Near the end of the day, the track went onto a large fenced and gated property. Nobody was home, and a neighbor gave us their phone number, but nobody answered the phone.

Piper's people said they would continue the search for her.

Piper went missing on a Monday. The sighting was on a Tuesday. We did the search on a Wednesday. I received a call on Friday afternoon that Piper was found that day near the area where she was lost. I was told that there was a sighting of Piper late on Thursday back near the area where she was originally lost.

"Bully," English Bull Terrier, Tri Colored, San Jose - Found!

________________________________________________________________________

We had a search scheduled to search for Bully. Late the night before, I received a phone message that "Bully" was found!

Bully is a nine year old, un-neutered tri-colored Bull Terrier. He is not wearing a collar and he is not microchipped.

Bully broke through the yard fence after hearing some fireworks in the neighborhood. There were a couple of sightings of Bully in the neighborhood shortly after breaking from the yard, but there were no additional sightings.

"Gretchen", Dachshund mix, Brown with Black, San Jose - Found!

_________________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Gretchen is a 12 lbs Dachshund mix. She was wearing a purple harness, a white collar with an ID tag and dragging a black leash. She is also microchipped. Gretchen had just been adopted that same day from Silicon Valley Humane Society.

Gretchen is very shy and reserved around strangers.

Gretchen has escaped through an open gate in the small yard. She was spotted in the area for a couple of days, but the time she was being spotted was very early in the morning and late evening. A humane trap was set in the yard, and she was seen near the trap, but she would not go into it.

We found her track leading away from the home and led several miles into an open space and shooting range. The search was called off at the four hour minimum.

A couple of days later Gretchen was trapped in the humane trap back at her new home.
