"Pepe," Persian, Black and White, Mountain View - Found!

______________________________________________________________________

Pepe is an indoor/outdoor, 10 year old black and white Persian cat. When he went missing he was not wearing a collar but he was microchipped. There were no sightings of Pepe after he went missing and it was unclear how he got out of the house during the night.

Pepe was missing for several days when we were called.

We had a search scheduled for first thing the next morning, but I received a very happy phone call very late that night that Pepe had been found in the neighborhood still running loose. The finder saw a posted flyer and called immediately!

"Pippi," Scottish Terrier/Cairn Terrier Mix, Black, San Francisco

_________________________________________________________________________

Search details:

Pippi is a three year old, 13 pound, female, black Cairn Terrier mix. When she went missing she was not wearing a collar and she was not microchipped, but she was wearing a black harness.

Pippi got out of the yard in San Francisco while staying with some friends for a few days while her people were out of town and live in Petaluma. There were a couple of sightings of Pippi later the next day over a mile from where she originally got out. We started the search there.

We did find a track leading out of the area in Diamond Heights/Twin Peaks and we followed it for several miles. It was pretty obvious for over half the search that Pippi was by herself, but by the end it appeared that Pippi was picked up by a human being and walking with them. It was unclear exactly where that occurred since there didn't appear to be an obvious spot, like in other searches where the pick up happens. I explained this to Pippi's people and they did agree that based on what they saw and where we were that it appeared that Pippi was now with a person, compared to the first half where the track went under fences and through small holes and Pippi was definitely walking alone.

As it got closer to getting dark, the search was stopped after several hours. They said they would continue to look for Pippi.

"C.C.," Grey/Brown Tabby with White, DSH, Hayward

_______________________________________________________________________

C.C. is a female, eight year old, grey tabby DSH with white feet, nose and chest. When she went missing she was not wearing a collar, and it was unknown whether she had a microchip since she had only recently wandered into the neighborhood in poor health and very thin.

There were no sightings of C.C. after she went missing.

We found the track leading out and continued on the search for a few hours until it got dark. They said they would continue to look for C.C.

The next day I received a phone call that C.C. had been found! A woman had seen a flyer that was posted the previous day while we were on the search and said that C.C. had been had her home for a couple of days after wandering into her driveway!

"Stripey Paws," Grey/Brown Tabby, DSH, Lagunitas - Found!

________________________________________________________________________

Stripey Paws is a seven month old, 10 pound, grey/brown tabby. When he went missing he was not wearing a collar and he was not microchipped.

The home where he went missing from was a new home. He had been recently adopted from a local rescue group less than a month before. The new people had just started to let him outside in the highly wooded and rural area, and within a couple of days, he went missing.

We followed the track for several hours up and around a wide variety of rural, isolated roads on both public and private lands until it started to get dark. We then had to walk back to the public roads where we were to get a ride. However, luckily, we got a ride all the way back home from a local resident  who happen to know the person I was working with, the person who ran the rescue who adopted Stripey Paws to his new home.

I received a text several days later that Stripey Paws had been found. The information I received was a little vague and brief, but it appears that Stripey Paws was found east of his home. The message said that Stripey Paws walked up to the home, but it was unclear how it was connected to his current home since he was not wearing any current ID. I don't know if those people saw a flyer or something else.

"Jessica," German Shepherd Mix, San Francisco - Found!

________________________________________________________________________

Jessica is a 25 pound, black and tan, German Shepherd mix. When she went missing she was wearing an orange collar with current ID tags and she was microchipped.

Jessica was being walked by her foster mom in a local neighborhood park when Jessica got spooked by some nearby gardening equipment. Her foster mom attempted to catch Jessica, but Jessica ran very fast.

There was a single sighting of Jessica later that night several blocks away in another park. We started the search from there and followed it for four hours in and out of Golden Gate Park and up into the Richmond District. The search was called off at the four hour mark by the foster mom.

I received a called by the owner of the rescue who had brought Jessica over from Taiwan. She was interested in scheduling another search and said she would contact me the following day.

Early the next morning, I received a phone call by the rescue group owner that Jessica had been picked up by San Francisco Animal Care and Control in another distant neighborhood of San Francisco.

"Ozzie," Australian Shepherd Mix, Larkspur - Found!

_________________________________________________________________

Search details:

Ozzie is a two year old Australian Shepherd mix. When he went missing he was wearing a collar with an ID tag and he was dragging a leash.

He was being walked by his person several blocks from home when he got spooked by the loud noise from a nearby construction site and took off, dragging his leash. His person attempted to catch him, but Ozzie ran very fast.

There were a couple of sightings of Ozzie, for a couple of days afterwards, back in the area where he got lost, and they all said he was still dragging his leash.

We came out about four days after he went missing. We found the track and followed it around Larkspur for about five hours, just to the point of it getting dark.

I was scheduled to come back the next day, but I received a phone message early in the morning that Ozzie was seen back in the same area, and they rushed to the area and caught him!
