"Coconut," Hedgehog, Berkeley - Found!

Coconut is a one year old Hedgehog. She was out in the back yard of their home with the children around 3 PM, who went inside for a couple of minutes. When they came out, Coconut was no where to be seen. They scoured the yard, but could not find Coconut.

We found her track leading away from the last known spot to a broken board in the fence, leading into a next door neighbor's yard. We went to that yard, which was very woodsy with very thick and overgrown vegetation and found her track leading through the yard and into the next neighbor's yard, which was very trimmed and well maintained, through a gate shared between the two yards. From there the track led through the yard and out the yard through another gate, which led to the street. From there the track led straight down the street for a couple of miles where it turned.

I told Coconut's people that I believed Coconut had been picked up while outside on the street.

Coconut's person was adamant that Coconut could never have been picked up and carried anywhere by anybody since, according to them, no person could ever pick her up without being barbed. However, they did tell me several times that they were able to pick her up when she was "in a good mood and willing to be picked up." They said she would become very territorial of her habitat, but would be more willing to be picked up and petted when she was outside her habitat and territory. I reminded her that Coconut would have been outside her habitat and territory once she got into those yards and onto the street and may be more willing to be picked up. She remained adamant that Coconut would never allow anybody to pick her up and she stopped the search at the two hour mark since she did not believe that Coconut was picked up and carried anywhere. She insisted that Coconut was still somewhere in the neighborhood and that Dino was not tracking Coconut's scent.
