"Iris," Yorkshire Terrier, Sunnyvale - Found!

On September 12, 2012, at 3:53 PM, I received a phone message from Iris' person. Her English was difficult to understand, and she was talking very fast, but it sounded like she had found Iris. Since I was on my way to a class, I sent her a text message, and this is the conversation:

3:58 PM: Did you find Iris?

4:13 PM: Yes! She is come back home self.

4:14 PM: Great! Where and when did you find her?

4:16 PM: She is today at 2:00pm back home.

4:19 PM: Did somebody bring her or did she walk back on her own?

4:20 PM: She walked back on her own.

4:23 PM: Great! Smart dog!

4:25 PM: How long was she missing?

4:52 PM: She is soooooo smart. Missing 20 days.

5:49 PM: Was she still wearing her pink leash?

6:04 PM: Yes. Still on.

6:16 PM: Is she hungry, thirsty, and tired?

6:22 PM: Yes! I make chicken for her. Sooo hungry!

6:26 PM: Give her a big hug from me and Dino! She is very lucky!

6:27 PM: OK. Thank  you!!!!!!!!!

The reason why I write this conversation is because another person emailed me and said that Iris was not wearing the leash when she was found, she was in great shape, not hungry or thirsty and that her coat was clean. He confirmed he never saw the dog, but was going off of what somebody else told him. He thought that this proved that Iris was in the neighborhood the whole time in somebody's home, and that Iris had just gotten out of the house, and that Iris had never traveled the distances that we tracked her. I told him about this text conversation I had with Susan, and he said it conflicted with what he was told.

I also thought it was somewhat extreme that somebody would keep her if a $3,000 reward was being offered and ads and flyers were all over the immediate area.

I continue to stand by that Iris travelled in the area where we tracked her.

Iris is a two year old Yorkie. She is unspayed, not microchipped, but she is wearing a brown collar with no ID tags, and dragging a pink leash.

Iris' person was out of town, and had a friend come by to walk Iris and her other dog. Iris got spooked by some loud noise and took off from the friend, dragging her pink leash. There were no sightings of Iris after she went missing.

We started from the last place that Iris was seen as the friend was following behind her to attempt to catch her. According to where we started, it appeared that Iris attempted to come back to her home, but got sidetracked and her track went off into neighboring locations.

For the first day we went as far as possible until we ran out of daylight. They wanted me to come back the next day, but I had already made a commitment to go to Exeter, CA, to look for "E-Or." When I came back on Monday, after two days looking for "E-Or", we continued our search for Iris.

We continued for several more hours until we ran out of daylight. At this point, they stopped the search. They said they would continue to look for Iris.
