"Oyster", DSH, Grey Tabby with White, Oakland/Emeryville/Berkeley

Still Missing as of February 24, 2014

_______________________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Oyster is an indoor/outdoor, four year old, neutered, grey tabby. He is wearing a collar with ID tags, but he is not microchipped.

He was last seen in the afternoon and should have been home that evening, but he never returned.

There were no sightings of Oyster after he was last seen by one of his people in the afternoon.

Almost immediately, it was obvious to me that Oyster had been picked up and carried away, most likely by a transient person, who are very common in the area.

We followed the track for several hours each day for two days.

His people said they would continue to look for Oyster.

"Sparky," Chihuahua mix, Black with white, San Jose - Found!

__________________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Sparky is a one year old, all black Chihuahua. He is not wearing a collar, but he is microchipped.

He was last seen running around the parking lot of a Best Buy store. He jumped out of the car of his people who were shopping in a nearby store.

We started the search, and found the track leading away from the shopping center.

Within 10 minutes, I was told to stop the search by Sparky's person. She said she did not believe that Dino was tracking her dog.

She never returned the reflective vest and never paid me for it. She immediately disputed the credit card charge when she got home, stating I never provided the service of tracking her dog. After two weeks, PayPal favored me in the dispute and I got the full $260 deposit.

I heard that Sparky was found several days later.

"Norman", Siamese, Lynx Point, San Jose

___________________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Norman is a six year old, primarily indoor only Siamese with Lilac point markings. He is wearing a collar with ID tags and he is microchipped.

He has the use of a dog door  in a sliding glass door to allow access to the outside.

He was last seen Saturday at around 2 PM inside the house. His people went out for several hours and did not come back until late that night. Norman was nowhere around. They started searching for him, but could not find him.

The track we found led around the neighborhood for a few short blocks and then right to a local public park. Here it went around a bridge over a dry creek and then shot directly out of the park and into a hillside neighborhood and then down a very busy street for several miles.

There are similarities to a cat walking and a cat being carried. Once we got to the busy road and traveled for several miles. I was convinced that Norman had been picked up probably inside the public park near the creek. I think he was initially chased from the house and found his way to the park where he was met by a friendly stranger. Though Norman is usually shy of strangers, I think he was so scared by being chased, eventually he may have been convinced this person could help him.

The search was called off by Norman's people at the four hour minimum. They said they would continue to look for Norman.

"Hercules", Siamese mix, Lynx Point, Fremont

Still missing as of March 25, 2012.

______________________________________________________________________

Search Details:

Hercules is a indoor/outdoor, seven year old, Siamese mix with Lynx Point markings. He is wearing a blue collar  and is microchipped. He was last seen by a neighbor inside her garage, which was normal. Hercules is very friendly and it is common for him to visit neighbor's home and eat from bowls of food.

There were no sightings of Hercules after  he was last seen by this neighbor.

Within one mile of the start of the search, it appeared to me that Hercules had been picked up. The search was straight down a street, through a park and around and around the neighborhood in which he lived. The day he was last seen was also the night when garbage cans get put out for pick up the next day. It is very common for people to come by during the night to pick up recycling from cans. I think he was picked up by one of these people and carried off.

The search was called off by Hercules' people  and they said they would continue to look for him.

A cat resembling Hercules has been spotted a couple of times by the same person at Coyote Hills Recreation area.

________________________________________________________________________

"Hi Jackie,

Thanks for all your help! Vinnie came home this morning! We really appreciate all your help - he could have heard us yelling his name in the all the spots that we visited, you never know!  We also put up more posters.

Thanks again - we really appreciate all your help and advice!

Best,
GL"

Search Details:

Vinnie is an eight year old, indoor only, neutered, DSH black and brown tabby with white paws and a white stomach. He is not wearing a collar and is not microchipped.

There were no sightings of him after he went missing.

We followed a track that went directly across the street to a court/cul-de-sac and then, from there, it went straight down the street, through a shopping center and over a 10 foot chain link fence. At this point, I told Vinnie's person, that it appears he has been picked up and carried away.

We followed it for several miles around Novato and then it went back to the same area of his home. The track went past his home, but on the other side of the street from the beginning. From here, it went through and around a couple of shopping centers.

The search was stopped after four hours by Vinnie's people. They continued walking around the area of the track all that night and calling his name.

Early the next morning, I received both an email and voicemail that Vinnie was found at his front doorstep.

My guess is that the person who had Vinnie saw us looking around for him and let him go near the house.

"Captain", Chesapeake Bay Retriever, Moraga - Found

__________________________________________________________________________

On February 28, 2012, I received an email that Captain was found deceased at the bottom of the large pond on their property. I saw the pond while initially checking the property and confirmed that Captain was not inside there. Even Captain's person said, "Yes, he is not in there." Since the yard had open access to the street, I told Captain's person that it appears that Captain returned to the property and fell into the pond. However, Captain's person felt that Captain never left the property and was in the pond the entire time, even though I told him that we both checked the pond and confirmed that he was not there when we checked.

Search Details:

Captain is an un-neutered 13 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever. He is wearing a blue collar with ID tags, but he is not microchipped. He walked out of the backyard after a side gate got left open.

We followed the track from out of the house and up into the massive EBMUD open space behind their home. This area has multiple reservoirs, and this is also a place where they hike a couple of times a week on a regular basis.

We followed the track on all types of trails, yet throughout the whole search Captain's person insisted Dino was never following his dog's track. He believed that Dino was following old trails instead of a current one. He insisted from the beginning his dog was picked up by a passer-by and attributed this to a person who he felt was doing something against him to be vindictive. Even after the search, he still believed his dog was picked up and insisted I restart the search to confirm that Dino would pick up the same track. After the search, I received an email insisting upon a refund of the full search fees.
