"Sparky," Australian Shepherd Mix, Blue/Brown Merle, San Francisco - Found!

On February 21, 2014, Sparky was Found in Daly City!

Search Details:

Sparky is an 11 year old, 55 pound Australian Shepherd mix. When he went missing he was wearing a collar with current ID tags and he was microchipped.

Sparky was last seen in Fort Funston with his dogwalker. For some reason, Sparky did not make it back to the vehicle with the other dogs. When the dogwalker went to look for Sparky, he was no where around.

There were no sightings of Sparky after he was last seen and before our search. He was seen many, many times between the first and second search and after the second search.

Sparky was last seen on February 12 at approximately 4 pm and we did our search the following day on February 13.

We started the first search at Fort Funston near where the dogwalker last saw Sparky. After extensively having Dino check the area, he found the track leading out below the ranger station, along the top of the cliffs, which eventually led all the way to behind the Olympic Club and the horse stables, a distance of over a half mile of isolated trails and ice plants and hiking. From there Sparky went under a chain link fence near the stables, walked past the stables, down John Daly Blvd and then continued through Daly City, all the way to near Seton Hospital.

The search was stopped at the five hour mark by Sparky's person. She said she would continue to look for him.

Two days later I was asked to come back. I was told that Sparky had been seen at the Olympic Club golf course. We started day two from that location. From there it went out of the OC, under Skyline Blvd via a tunnel and back to Fort Funston, all the way through the park and back down to Skyline, where he crossed over to Lake Merced. From there he went around Lake Merced and out to Sunset Blvd where he walked all the way down to Golden Gate Park. He zig zagged through the park and eventually got to Fulton and was headed down Fulton towards the beach, when the search was called off at the six hour mark.

Again I was told they would continue to look for him.

After that, Sparky was seen off and on for the next few days in and around Fort Funston, the OC, Lake Merced, Daly City and the Westlake District. Then he was not seen for several days. He was then seen again two days ago back in Daly City. His people got to the area and found Sparky. I don't know the circumstances of how he was found. I have not talked to Sparky's people directly. I was following the postings on the Facebook page dedicated to finding him, which is posted at the beginning of this blog.
