"Cartier," American Bulldog, Brown and White, Oakland

Cartier is a 2 year old, tan and white American Bully. He is microchipped, but not wearing a collar or tags. He and another dog accidently got out of their yard on a Sunday afternoon. The other dog was eventually found back in the yard, but Cartier was not found. Despite a search of the neighborhood, Cartier was not found that night. The microchip company has been contacted and they distributed their own flyers.

I was able to come out the next morning and after looking at the yard and how Cartier got out of the yard, we took Asia around the block to find the way that Cartier got out of the common area behind the houses on the block. Asia found the track leading away from the neighborhood, through a park and then onto another street that led directly to International Blvd. From there the track went right and continued for several miles all the way to Lake Merritt. From there the track went all the way around the lake, which is over 3 miles all the way around.

The search was stopped at the four hour mark and Cartier's people said they would continue to look for him.

It appears that Cartier was intentionally removed from the area and taken a distance from his neighborhood. Oakland has a strong policy of no flyers on poles or posts, so I recommended that Cartier's people walk around and pass out flyers to people to see if they recognize him being walked by another person. I also recommended showing the flyer to the Police and Animal Control in case he shows up in another case in the city.
