"Chloe", Maltese/Poodle mix, Fresno - FOUND!

On Monday, August 29, 2011, I received a phone call from a man who said that he had Chloe in Irvine, CA. He said that he wanted to confirm with me that Chloe belonged to the people who I worked with on her search the previous year. It was a very confusing phone call. I was on another search at that time, and could not return his call immediately. That evening I call him back, but the voicemail box was full, so I could not leave a message. I called the alternate number, which was his office. I left a voicemail that I had received his message, and confirmed where Chloe lived.

I raced home, and found my past notebook with Chloe's people's information. I immediately called them and spoke to Jacqueline, who was with me on the search. She confirmed that Chloe was found in Irvine by a couple who got Chloe, by then called Cookie, by a man who said he found Chloe in Fresno at an unknown time. Apparently, Chloe was very dirty and matted and not well cared for.

The couple was very cautious of this person, and did not know what to believe. Luckily, they did take Chloe from this man, and then took her to a vet for a checkup. At this point, this is when her microchip was found. Her family in Fresno was contacted immediately and informed of her location.

I posted this ad in Craigslist the day after I discovered Chloe was found:

Chloe, a one year old spayed, microchipped, Maltese/Poodle mix, went missing from her home in August 2010 in Fresno. She was wearing a collar with ID tags.

Me and my tracking dog, Dino, followed her around Fresno in 95 degree heat for several hours. The search was stopped by Chloe's person at a golf course, still in Fresno.

There were no further sightings or information of Chloe until two days ago. Her family received a call that Chloe was found, alive and well, in Irving, California. A man and his wife were approached by a man who showed them Chloe and gave her to them. This man's story was pretty far fetched, so it was hard to believe.

This couple took Chloe, named Cookie, to a vet for a check up. The vet scanned Chloe and found her microchip. Her family was contacted immediately and told of her whereabouts.

Her family is arranging a drive down to Irving from Fresno to pick her up.

Lesson: MICROCHIP ALL YOUR ANIMALS! DON'T GIVE UP HOPE

Chloe is a spayed one year old maltese poodle cross. She is wearing a collar with ID tags and has a microchip. She disappeared from her home after she took herself for a walk, but did not come home or was not found by her people, like in the past. She disappeared on a Sunday, and on Wednesday there was a possible sighting of her in a shopping center about a mile from her home. A grocery store employee had seen the flyer in his employee break room after seeing her  running loose in the parking lot.

We started the search there to confirm if the dog seen was actually Chloe. The dogs indicated that it was her and started to follow the track around the shopping center and then continued for four more hours when Chloe's people called off the search.

The temperature started at 85 degrees and when we stopped it was 95 degrees.
