"Stella," Terrier mix, White, Oakland - Found!

I received the following email several days after the search.

"Subject: Stella has been found!!

Date: October 31, 2012

Many thanks to everyone for your positive thoughts and prayers. Stella is now home. Other than four sore paws and exhaustion, she's otherwise unharmed.

Great thanks goes out to the Ryan family who lives next to the Redwood Regional Park. Specifically Grandma Ryan who found Stella in their yard and tried to tend to her.
Although they were not able to get close to her to read her tag, they were able to find my listing onlostmydoggy.com

Through that site, they were able to reach me.
We were very lucky that the Ryan family were such kind souls. They too had lost their dog before and felt the desire to pay forward. We too will pay forward as well."

I asked: "What part of the park was Stella found? I know that is a very large park."

The reply:
"she was found in a home not far from the Piedmont Stables.
her paws were raw and bleeding and she was very quiet and somber when we picked her up.
but she has since healed and is already barking at the neighbour's dog. :)

I have to wonder though if she really did make it to downtown oakland and back or if perhaps we were following another dog's scent once we were passed Piedmont Stables?"

My reply:
"I am glad she is feeling better.

We were following her scent the whole way based on the scent articles that you showed me and her last known location. That explains the raw feet and the exhaustion and why she was not seen again in the area for a few days. Dogs are capable of traveling very, very far.

Stella is a very lucky dog! Many dogs remain missing after becoming lost."

___________________________________________________________________

Stella is a 25 pound, two year old, white/tan Chihuahua/Terrier mix. She is wearing a collar with ID tags and she is microchipped. She is also very cautious and shy of strangers.

She got lost when she was being walked off leash with an e-collar in the upper left corner of Redwood Regional Park, near her home at around 6 PM on Saturday evening. A larger dog chased her while on the trail and she got scared and took off. There were several sightings of her throughout the park in the next 24 hours.

We started where she was last seen on Sunday afternoon at around 3 PM. We picked up the track and followed her on the trail as she went out of the park, then went back in. She went to the Piedmont Stables, onto Redwood Road, and then back to the park. Eventually the track left the park and went into the streets of Oakland. The search was stopped after several hours, and they said they would continue to look for Stella.

Several days later I received the emails from from Stella's person.
