Blackberry is an 18 year old black DSH. He has no collar or microchip. He was last seen around midnight at Sunday on the front porch when his person came home. He was not there in morning when she woke up.
Her neighbor reported seeing a coyote with a small animal in its mouth that morning around 5 AM in front of her house after being woken by some very loud crows. The neighbor could not see what type or color of animal was in the coyote's mouth. Later that day, another neighbor reported seeing that same morning some type of deceased animal on her front lawn, but she also could not tell what type of animal it was.
Blackberry's person thought that the two animals seen that morning might have been Blackberry.
According to the track neither animal was Blackberry since his track led away from the house and continued for several miles. See track below.
My best guess at this point is that Blackberry may have been chased from the house sometime in the middle of the night. His schedule was very consistent from day to day.

Day #2 Search:
Due to the extreme heat that day of almost 95, we did a variety of short tracks along Blossom Hill Road and Almaden Expressway and then driving in an air conditioned car and then getting out and checking if the scent was still there and then following it along the way. I switched the dogs back and forth while I walked. Since he had traveled those long roads, we were able to jump ahead in the track faster than walking. Still no positive sightings. He is probably traveling at night which enables him to walk these busy roads quite fast.

Day #3 search: (Positive and confirmed sighting of Berry!)
We started the search in the neighborhood where we last stopped. Berry's person had distributed flyers and talked to a lot of people in the area, asking if they had seen him around. There were two positive sightings of Berry, both within a block of each other. We went to the last one and started there. The woman said she had seen a black cat she did not recognize on her deck in her backyard around 10 PM both Monday and Tuesday nights. We had stopped the last track on Monday afternoon in that area, so it was very encouraging.
I took Dino out and brought him to the yard, had him check the whole area and then took him to the center and said "search." He made a beeline to the back fence, which led to a canal area. The rest of the fences on her yard were very tall (eight to ten feet tall) and sturdy, but the fence to the canal was only about six feet tall and there were trees that rested against it. We went into the canal and Dino indicated that Berry's scent went back out onto the street and continued from there. See the track below.
