Ginger is a spayed four year old indoor only Tortoise Shell DSH. She has no collar, but does have a microchip. She was last seen one week ago inside the apartment last thing at night. She was not in the apartment the next morning. She does have access to a balcony on the second story of the apartment. Her person found out after she went missing that she does visit her next door neighbor via a connector of the two balconies. She may have slipped from the second story while attempting to visit the neighbor.
There was a possible sighting of Ginger two days before my search as she ran along the outside of the basketball court, which is on the edge of the apartment complex. Dot confirmed that the cat seen was Ginger.
While on the search, Dot found a dog hiding in a large drainage pipe alongside the railroad track. We could not see the dog since there was a lot of brush covering it, plus the dog was deep inside the pipe. After I pulled her out, we could see that she could not stand due to an injury on her hind end. We called animal control and they quickly came out. I called the next day and I was told she was euthanized due to a broken back and two broken legs. She was very emaciated and thirsty. She may have been in that pipe for several days, unable to move.
Based on Ginger's track it looks like she was picked up somewhere prior to Alviso, maybe along the canal.
