A.J. is a 12 year old Yorkshire Terrier. He has a collar with ID tags and a microchip. His people drove into San Francisco from Marin and went to dinner, parking their car a couple of blocks away from the restaurant. When they came back to their car, they found their car had been broken into and A.J. and a cell phone was gone. They searched all over the area, but could not find him. They were unclear if A.J. had actually been stolen or did A.J. jump out of the car after the car was broken into. A.J. had been missing for a couple of days when I was called.
We went to the location where the car was parked and we picked up the scent leading away from the area. Within a few blocks, it was clear that A.J. had been taken from the car and carried away. The track made a straight beeline out of the area and all the way out to the beach, where we found an obvious resting/sleeping area. From here the track went onto the beach and then back up and then went back and forth from the beach to the walkways. Eventually the track led straight again through the neighborhoods where A.J.'s people stopped the search when it became dark.
They said they would continue to search for him.
