"Casey," Labrador Retriever, Chocolate, Rio LInda

Craigslist ad:

"My dog ran away from 8th st x U st in rio linda this morning 6/22 shortly before 11am and has not returned. He is a Chocolate Lab, he is about 75lbs and is fixed. He has a silver choke chain on and a black rosary, but his dog tags were found in the yard. His name is Casey and he has a very sad 4 yr old little girl that wants him home, His family misses him. He is 6yrs old and very lovable. Thank you"

Casey is a six year old, 75 pound, Chocolate Labrador. He is wearing a silver choke chain collar with a black rosary. He does not have any ID tags and he is not microchipped. He could be reserved around strangers and men. 

The neighborhood is a mixture of both suburban homes and small "ranch-ettes." Casey lives on one of the small ranch-ettes. Surrounding the immediate area are larger ranches and dairies and commercial farms. 

He went missing on Friday, June 22. There was a sighting of Casey the following Thursday, the 27th, a few blocks from the home at noon. We came out on July 1 to do the search. 

We started at the sighting on Thursday. After doing a wide perimeter check of the area, Dino found a track leading out and away from the neighborhood. Shortly, it went onto a local paved hiking/biking/jogging trail that led away for a couple of miles. Then the track followed a dirt trail that led for a couple more miles and eventually led out to a northernly rural/ranch neighborhood. 

The trail eventually led to an area of much large commercial farms and ranches. The temperatures were already nearing 100 degrees and it was only 11 AM. We intentionally started early to "beat the heat." 

The search was stopped at the four hour mark and they said they would continue to look for Casey.
