"Olive," Black Lab Mix, Black with White, San Francisco - Found!

Posted at 11 AM, Wednesday, a day after the search, this was posted on the Grateful Dog Rescue Facebook page:

"Six days after going missing with few sightings, Olive decided with was a good time to make a friend and wandered up to a man and his dog in Park Merced. Her owners have her safe and sound. Happy Wednesday for everyone."

Olive is a 40 pound black Lab/Pit bull/Border Collie mix who is predominately black with white feet and a white chest. She was walking with her regular dog walker at Fort Funston, a large off-leash dog walking area on the border of San Francisco and Daly City, across from the Olympic Club. She was dragging a red leash and wearing a collar with ID tags and she is microchipped.

Between Friday at noon, when she was last seen by the dog walker, and Sunday, there were no sightings. On Sunday, Olive was seen back at the dog park, near the water fountain in the middle of the park. The next day, Monday, she was spotted three times within an hour, twice inside the park and once on Skyline Blvd at the entrance to the Olympic Club. I came out Wednesday afternoon and walked along on the search with one of the dog walkers.

The track we found led us through the Olympic Club and out the entrance on the corner of John Muir and Lake Merced Blvd. It continued down John Muir and then crossed over to the path leading around Lake Merced. From there she found a bridge crossing over and continued all around Lake Merced, past Brotherhood Way, Park Merced, Stonestown Center, Lowell High School, Sunset Blvd, and the Zoo, until she entered Harding Park. She went all around inside there, probably trying to find food. After leaving the Harding Park, she continued along Lake Merced and eventually back up into Fort Funston and all around to various spots. The search was stopped at the four hours, just as it was getting dark.

They said they would continue to look for Olive.

At 1:49 PM the next day I received the following text from Olive's mom:
"Olive is home! She turned up at an apartment complex on Font Road (Park Merced). We are so happy! Thanks for all your help!"

1:55 PM My response:
"Excellent! I am glad she is safe back at home! Was she still dragging her leash?"

2:00 PM
"She was!"

2:08 PM My response:
"She is a very lucky dog! She was crossing a lot of very busy streets. Give her a hug from me and Dino!"

2:10 PM
"Thank you!"
