Search Details:
Meak is a one year old, 10 pound Tuxedo marked, indoor/outdoor DMH. When he went missing he was not wearing a collar but he was microchipped.
Meak was last seen inside the apartment during the day, but he did not return later that day.
Meak went missing on January 8th and I came to the area to do the search on January 28th, 20 days later.
There were no sightings of Meak after he went missing.
Meak and his person had only moved to the rural area about two weeks prior, just before Christmas, and Meak had only been let outside to the area for a couple of days when he disappeared. A local neighborhood dog was seen chasing Meak one day before he went missing.
After doing an extensive search of the vast area surrounding Meak's home, Dino found the track leading past the house where the dog lived who had chased Meak the previous day, but the owner of that dog said they were keeping the dog confined in the house after they were told their dog was seen chasing Meak.
The track led towards the direction of the small town of Angwin, about a half mile from the home. After going into town, it led around the local college campus, across the main road and to a empty field that bordered a sewage treatment plant at the edge of town. From there it went across the road again and onto a hiking/biking trail that led downhill and then eventually down another road.
The search was called off at the four hour mark by Meak's person. He said he would continue to look for Meak.
